Transportation

Arrangement for Local Transportation
We will arrange local transportation from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE/桃園機場) to Taipei Station (台北車站) by Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR/臺灣高鐵), or from Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA/松山機場) to Taipei Station by MRT, and then from Taipei Station by trains of Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA/台鐵) to Hualien.

Attention: For preparing TRA train round-trip tickets from Taipei to Hualien in advance, please fill in your flight information when you register. If you are not able to fill in flight information before the online registration deadline, please inform us by email (hsyunliu@gate.sinica.edu.tw) before August 22, 2013.

If you prefer to go by yourself, please use the following information for reference.

  • By Train (From Airport to Hualien)

From International Airport to Taipei Station

  • From Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE/桃園機場) to Taipei Station (台北車站)
    1) Take a Taxi
        Driving distance: About 1 hour
        Fee: About NT$1,100-1,200
    2) Take Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport (國光客運) Line[1819] to the Taipei Station
        Driving distance: About 1 hour
        Ticket fare: Adult NT$125
        Tickets must purchased ahead at Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport (國光客運) service counter at the Arrivals Lobby of the airport.
        Please get off the bus at the Taipei Railway Station. The get-off stop is near the East 3 Exit of the Station.
    3) Take the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR/臺灣高鐵)
    1. Take Shuttle bus No. 705 to Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR/臺灣高鐵) Taoyuan Station (高鐵桃園站).
      Ticket fare: Adult NT$30
      Tickets must be purchased ahead of time for each journey. Tickets are sold at UBUS (統聯客運) service counters at Arrivals Lobby of Terminals 1 and 2.
      Bus Information
      Driving distance: Around 20-30 minutes.
    2. Take THSR train to Taipei Station (高鐵台北站).
      Ticket fare: Adult for Standard Car NT$175.

  • From Taipei International Airport (Taipei Songshan Airport/TSA/松山機場) to Taipei Station
    1. Take the MRT brown line (toward Taipei Zoo動物園) from Songshan Airport Station (松山機場站) to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station (忠孝復興站), and transfer the MRT blue line (toward Yongning永寧 or Far Eastern Hospital亞東醫院) to Taipei Main Station (台北車站).
      Ticket fare: Adult NT$25.
      Driving distance: Around 20 minutes.
    2. Take a Taxi

From Taipei Station to Hualien Station

  1. Take Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA/台鐵) train to Hualien at Taipei Station.

Taking a taxi is the convenient moving way in Hualien. The time and fee are as follows:

    2. To National Dong Hwa University: Around 30 minutes / About NT$ 350-400.
  • From Hualien Airport:
